Health and safety matters at Future Stars Tuition because it affects everyone who spends time with us, including children, tutors, parents, and visitors. We follow the Department for Education's Out-of-School Settings safeguarding guidance, which sets out the health and safety standards we work to. We see health and safety as a shared responsibility, and we ask anyone who spots a risk to raise it with our Designated Safeguarding Lead straight away.
Equipment and electrical safety
- Any equipment we bring to a session is checked for safe condition before use, and used only as the manufacturer intends.
- We do not use damaged or faulty equipment, and any fault is reported and the item removed from use immediately.
Preventing trips, slips, and falls
- Tutors are asked to report any trip hazard straight away.
- Spills are cleared up as soon as they're noticed.
- Any wires or cables we bring are kept tidy and out of walkways.
- We check the session space at the start of each session for anything that could cause a fall.
Fire safety
- Before running sessions at a venue, we familiarise ourselves with that venue's fire evacuation procedure and emergency exits.
- Tutors know the evacuation route and assembly point for each venue we use, and this is covered as part of induction.
First aid
A stocked first aid kit and a first aid-trained tutor are present at every session. Full details are set out in our First Aid policy.
The session environment
- We choose venues that provide clean, well-maintained facilities, including toilets with soap and hot water, comfortable lighting, and good ventilation.
- We check each venue is suitable for the number of children attending before booking it.
